regimental day

by Manx RA on Sun Oct 25, 2009 6:51 pm

Hi Les and the rest of you layabouts, yep I went to the Regimental day at Duxford although I arrived late, only saw a few of the old Recce tribe Tubby Watkins never changes.
Also did the E&G dinner (correct weekend this year) at Bassingborne where I saw guys I have not seen since 1970. plenty of Berlin and Aden Boys, many looking well, others not so good.

Sending you this from Malta where I was in much need of a break from work and weekends on ranges part time. Just finished reading Attack state red by Col R Kemp, sounds like these modern young Royal Anglian kids are not as soft as we may think!
An excellent read, but with the equipment these guys have it makes you wonder how we survived Aden and the Radfan. stay safe regards Rod

Regimental Day

Hi Chris, Wally Colin and anyone else, did anybody get to Duxford this year cos I couldn,t make it I had some problems with a booked holiday I was supposed to go on the 21st but it got cancelled at the last moment and had to go elsewhere. So did anyone get there as there has been more action in a MORTUARY than there has been on this site for ages, I exspect nothing from Chris as the single finger he uses to type with must be sore cos he has done quite a bit of typing over the years. If you got there let me know how it was and was there many there. Hope to catch some of you later unless you have all had the Last Post played and I am the only one left

Colin
Bill Tranham was the MTO in Berlin and he passed me out on my driving test he told me "give me a smooth drive cos my ulcers are playing up and you have passed" and so the driver of the century was born ME ME ME. Anyway enough of the great and the good how are you getting on and will you be at the reunion on the 20th if so I will see you there buddy and we can talk about the good old days after Berlin but for that period I will have to talk to Avieson and Wally Woolner hope to see you all on the 20th Stay safe and keep the Zimmers well oiled
