60 + and still going strong ish
Good morning:
Ive often wondered about the subject but have since realised that it doesnt matter as long as you write something. God i miss my spell checks i always find them handy,
Hi Kiwi Wilson, Wally Waldron and others nice to hear your still alive and well. I mostly use the other Royal Anglian site and dont get on this one much. I am living in Colchester with the family and am semi retired, just do a bit of Taxi work which means i have to pop out at short notice like now. Talk soon Chris:

Well with all you youngsters chatting away I thought I would throw my hat into the ring - looking forward to the Eagle & Garter dinner tomorrow at Bassingbourne, otherwise enjoying my retirement, the sun and sea in Brighton. Before the Bassingbourne dinner in the evening a group of the Berlin boys (64-66) tend to meet at lunchtime in Colin Ladley's old pub at Therfield. These include Lordy Nelson, Keith Plumb, Tony Turner, Martin (not allowed to say Ginger now) Gilbert, Danny Bryant, and a few others. We are also sure that both Kenny Mogg and Herbie Herbert are with us in spirit.

We seem to have started our own club what shall we call it ( The lads from the 60s )
I like that one. Just finnished watching Ross Kemp with 1 Royal Anglian in Afghanistan , a scary sort of place which i wouldnt want my kids going to. It doesnt seem to have changed much since 3 Para were there in 2006. ( just read the book ) Irac seems to be the same endless sand arabs and camels or is that Merceedes. ( just read Major Hunter Eight lives down )
I like that one as well.

Evening Wally
Ive just put some pics on this site and had a quick chat with Rob Hewitt. Not sure how long he served or when he left but it was nice talking to him. The pics are in the same place that yours are.
I think i mentioned That i was going to Duxford but i may be late arriving as i have an airport run at 0600.

Many thanks to everyone who made Duxford so enjoyable this year. The parade was good, the music was great and the company as usual was exceptional.
Most of the time spent chatting to SF, Percy parsons, Paul neal, Tom and Pauline Carr and Martin Brewer. Oh Steve and Wilkie thanks for the sauce it came in handy that pm at home.
I also ran into Rod leonard Jack whitten colin langridge and others who it was rearly nice to see.
The display of Triumphs at the entrance was also a bit of a treat as was the land warfare museam.
Altogether a very good day

Hi Robert
Thanks for email . I can confirm Micks claim to Fame as I was sitting in the back of his Unimog (spelling ? ) at the time and its the first time i saw a Mobat fly. Not sure how much damage was done but it certainly needed some TLC.
The second time was at Putlos in Germany during an A/Tank concentration, part of the live firing exercise was to manhandle the Gun through a wooded area. This was to simulate moving into a forward fireing position.
Anyway I was given the job of holding the leathal end of the Barrel and stearing the gun through the undergroath. This started off ok until the terrain started to resemble a BMX track in a thick wood and as the rest of the guys were double my size and weight the bloody gun whent were they wanted it to go.
By this time we were motering and the gun and I left the ground on the ups and rejoined it on the downs and at the end of the course my arms and legs were wrapped round the manhandling bars holding on for dear life. I dont know how many trees i hit but i was well bruised at the end.
All the guys you mentioned were there.
Regards Chris
